Fight Germs and Viruses!

May 1, 2009

The H1N1 swine flu virus has caused the World Health Organization (WHO) to declare a “public health emergency.”  “This virus has, clearly, a pandemic potential,” says Margaret Chan, director general of WHO. Why? The virulent new H1N1 swine flu strain spreads quickly and efficiently from human to human. It’s “a completely novel virus,” says the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). This latest variant is a mixture of human virus, bird virus, and pig viruses from all over the world. Experts say it’s particularly worrisome because people are getting sick without any encounters with pigs. Even worse, young, healthy people (ages 20-40) are dying at a striking rate, a telltale sign of the worst flu epidemics.

Sanitize – To avoid infections, hand hygiene is the single best thing you can do (if you’re going to go out into the world and interact with other human beings). The CDC estimates that 80 percent of all infections are spread by hands. If you can’t wash your hands with soap and water regularly, try SafeHands!

SafeHands formulation, which uses natural oils, kills more germs than alcohol and independent tests conducted at California State University Fresno demonstrated SafeHands formulation to be superior to alcohol based hand sanitizers. It Kills MRSA too.

The only way to be sure your young child is not going to be poisoned by their alcohol based sanitizers is to use an alcohol free alternative. Unsuspecting parents have become intoxicated with the idea that alcohol will keep their children’s hands germ free. Some parents apply these popular sanitizers throughout the day to their toddlers hands not knowing of the consequences. To read about a tragic story of two mothers and their children, visit http://www.snopes.com/medical/toxins/sanitizer.asp.  Products such as alcohol free SafeHands are available to kill a wider spectrum of germs than alcohol and will spare parents the rush to an emergency room or a bleary eyed young child. Keep Alcohol out of the Hands of Children

SafeHands introduction of their alcohol-free instant hand sanitizers coincides with recent bans on alcohol-based hand sanitizers in schools as well as the national television coverage of a four year old child who became intoxicated from licking the hand sanitizer just applied to her hands by her teacher. SafeHands has launched its proprietary products nationwide with the manufacturing and distribution support of JF Daley International, a leading supplier to the food and healthcare industries, as well as other top distribution networks, such as Sysco, McKesson and Diebold.

Dr. Jay Reubens, a known expert in hand sanitation and developer of the first patented touch-free hand wash dispenser, is President and Founder of SafeHands, Inc. He recently stated, “The recent news coverage of alcohol-based sanitizers highlights a problem that affects the greater public served by the health and food service industries.” Employees in these critical industries are finding it difficult to follow both legally mandated and industry standard protocols because of the painful and drying effects of the frequent use of alcohol hand sanitizers. SafeHands has conducted scientific studies in independent labs that validated that multiple daily use of alcohol- based instant hand sanitizers can crack hands which trap germs and ultimately increase the potential for cross contamination.

Dr. Reubens’ early interest in hand sanitizing stemmed from his personal experience as a practicing dentist, owning a large multi-chair office. He commented, “I experienced the drying and painful effects of alcohol sanitizers like everyone else in my office and felt that I was putting myself, staff and patients at risk of cross contamination. While developing SafeHands, Dr. Reubens studied the possible relationship between the rising incidence of nosocomial (hospital acquired) infection and food borne illness with the increase use in alcohol-based hand sanitizers.

Through his research, Dr. Reubens concluded that employees are forsaking frequent hand sanitizing because the alcohol based products they are required to use cause pain and discomfort. Dr. Reubens stated that, “I created SafeHands as a soothing alternative to current alcohol-based hand sanitizers to encourage greater compliance with hand sanitizing requirements”. Dr. Reubens further stated, “SafeHands is alcohol-free, non-toxic, non-drying, non-flammable with an approved germ-killing agent scientifically tested and proven superior to alcohol-based.”

SafeHands(R), Inc. is a technology driven, privately held company that is focused on the rapidly growing instant hand sanitizing market. SafeHands is entering the industrial market including food service and health care where workers are required to use hand sanitizers throughout the day. SafeHands products are marketed for “Multiple Daily Use” to address the problems of red, dry and cracked hands that result from frequent use of alcohol based instant hand sanitizers.
